Up: [[Compulsion]] Created: 2026-04-01 Updated: 2026-04-02 Notice and challenge all-or-nothing thoughts and choices. A couple of Byron Katie’s questions are helpful here — “Is it true? Can I absolutely know that it’s true?” Or there’s the old standby, “What would a friend say?” Anything that will make a thought even a bit more accurate and helpful is worth doing. Practice [[Self-Compassion]], using mindfulness activities such as those in [[Embodiment - Ground Curriculum]] to help me be more aware of my thoughts, feelings, sensations from moment to moment, and also to be more accepting of them without judgment. Look for alternative behaviours that aren’t at either extreme. A simple example is reducing my intake of Hickory Sticks and Rockets, rather than deleting those play foods entire. Focus on strengths, rather than faults. Reframe negatives to recognize progress, not just perfection. Create a space between thought and action by pausing to be aware of thoughts, feelings, or sensations in my body. [[Statio]] works for this. Use the activities in [[Devotion Elaborated]] to soothe myself in the emotionally distressing times of all-or-nothing.
