Up: [[Calling]] Created: 2022-02-08 [[Sharon Blackie]] is a big fan of the concept of apprenticeship. She sees it as an important part of [[Calling]] that we have the humility to accept that we do not know and the willingness to spend the time learning. She thinks this is undervalued in a world that she sees as being *hell bent on heroes and glory*. In the Middle Ages, an apprenticeship was seven years. There’s a good Scottish story Sharon shared called *The Black Bull of Norroway*, where a young woman apprentices for seven years to a blacksmith who will make her a pair of studded shoes so she can get across a glass mountain to her lost husband. Do I agree that calling demands an apprenticeship? If so, an interesting question for me to ponder is “What am I apprenticing myself to now that is relevant to my calling?”
