Course: Jung's Notion of the Self with Lionel Corbett for Phoenix Friends of Jung
Martin Buber and Victor White accused [[C. G. Jung]] of being out of his lane.
Jung couldn’t convince Buber that the psyche was real. Buber was insistent on the idea of God as a transcendent being, while Jung thought that was unknowable.
And Buber didn’t like Jung’s notion of [[God’s Dark Side]] because he thought it could lead to immorality; that people could claim they are doing God’s will when they are committing evil. This is still a common concern.
Jung had lots of meetings with Victor White, an English Dominican. The two men tried to establish some commonality. Unfortunately, the relationship died quite painfully because White, like Buber, also couldn’t accept Jung’s notion of God’s dark side.
