Up: [[Spirituality]] Created: 2023-01-14 Course: Jung's Notion of the Self with Lionel Corbett for Phoenix Friends of Jung Jung wasn’t in favour of psychedelics because they cause an experience in the deep psyche and when there’s such an experience, he says we have a moral obligation to integrate what we receive. A dream taps deep psyche and it’s manageable to work with that. But an eight hour trip on LSD is not. Corbett’s position, like [[Ashok Bedi]]’s, is that if psychedelics are used in small measure in the proper setting and with containment by a therapist, they can give us new meaning. But if used recklessly, they’re dangerous. Corbett says that Timothy Leary did a lot of damage to our understanding of psychedelics. He certainly did for me. I have zero interest in experimenting with any mind-opening or mind-altering drugs.
