The triangle is tied to the number three. See also [[Three Is Essence]] Threes represented by the triangle include:

The equilateral triangle represents completion, and also [[Athena]] as the goddess of wisdom. In Christianity, it is the Trinity in unity
The upward pointing triangle is solar and is usually red in colour. It symbolizes:
- life, fire, flame, heat (horizontal line is air)
- the [[masculine principle]]
- trinity of love, truth, and wisdom
- royal splendor
- mountain
The downward pointing triangle is lunar and is usually white in colour. It symbolizes:
- water
- the [[Feminine Principle]]
- the Great Mother
- the natural world
- the body
- [[Cave]]
Two interlocking triangles are:
- union of the opposites — fluid fire, or fiery water.
Two triangles lying horizontally and touching apex to apex are:
- lunar, the waxing and waning moon
- death and life
- dying and resurrecting
The point of touching is the dark of the moon and death.
