In my personal vault, my daily notes are the backbone of my system, as they are for many people using Obsidian. Profound Journey has been feeling incomplete without them.
Daily notes can take all sorts of forms for people, everything from automated habit trackers or lists of which notes were worked on that day, through to full-on journals. Mine are journal notes, and that's why I haven't been including them. Partly this is my personal challenge with being vulnerable; partly it is my belief that social media has normalized extraordinary levels of personal sharing, to our detriment, and partly it's that I'm in a long-term Jungian analysis, which does not work if deep inner work is shared before it is fully "cooked."
However, as concerned as I am about self-protection, I've recently been feeling more concerned that I've been hiding. So I'm going to experiment with a blend of personal sharing and curation of some of the resources that inform and enrich my days.
## Introducing Hearth Notes
My daily notes are called Hearth Notes because I have [[Hestia]], goddess of the hearth, as my guiding [[Archetype]].
I divide my year into ten day periods (decans), not weeks, for reasons I'll explain in a separate note, hopefully sometime soon.
Each decan will have its own note, organized chronologically, updated each day with one or two entries. The sweet spot for me is if I can give you brief journal entries that are slightly more personal for the sake of inspiring *your* own thoughts, feelings, and connections. It's going to take me a while to achieve that kind of writing, if I can do it at all. Your honest feedback and suggestions for improvement are most welcome.
January 2nd, 2026 was the start of a new decan for me. So the experiment begins with [[HN Winter January 2-11, 2026]].
