#### Does Enforced Boredom Change Behaviour?
School principal Roy Blackmore placed a wooden desk chair in the centre of the hall. “Sit!,” he commanded ten-year-old Roland. Principal Blackmore could hear but not stop the nagging, hectoring tone in his voice as he told Roland, “You don’t want to work? Fine. Then I won’t let you work. Just sit there. That’s all you will be allowed to do. Sit there.”
As he strode away, Mr. Blackmore hoped that his clumsy attempt at reverse psychology would work, that Roland would cave under the weight of the hours of boredom ahead, that he would soon be desperate to return to his classroom and do the work required of him. (Written [[2015-10-12]])
