Up: [[Experiencing Time]] Created: 2025-06-02 Updated: 2026-01-26 Consistency has been a slippery concept for me. I recognize its value in sustaining effort when desire is absent. I appreciate that practice is what allows for gradual mastery in any creative endeavour. Nevertheless, after retirement I resisted being consistent about anything. I wrote about this in [[Freeing Consistency from my Death Grip]]. Everything changed for me in the last month when I wrote and started living [[Devotion Elaborated]]. It took lowering my expectations from an hour or more devoted to each of the eight actions to simply doing *something, anything* with no minimum or maximum time. Now I’ve had only one day in the last month when I did not do all eight actions. Now I spend lots of time engaged in actions that matter and still experience the day as spacious and open. The difference came with finally understanding that consistency is personal. Instead of following the recommendations of others, we need to respect our individuality and integrate advice with our unique lifestyles, limitations and personalities.
