Up: [[Relaxation]] Created: 2023-02-26 This is the invention of Gabrielle Roth. It’s based on your body as a field of energy, which is a concept that has always appealed to me. I also love her main concept that if you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. That feels like the epitome of successful embodiment to me! > [!Orbit] Gabrielle Roth > Energy moves in waves. > Waves move in patterns. > Patterns move in rhythms. > A human being is just that, > Energy, waves, patterns, rhythms. > Nothing more. Nothing less. > A dance. ### Rules (or at least strong recommendations) 1. Show up. Dancing for 5 minutes or half an hour doesn’t matter as much as showing up. Note: It’s not about weight loss, but one woman who showed up and did the practice three times a week lost 100 pounds in a year. 2. Do whatever of the five rhythms you feel like, but if you’re doing all five, do them in order to make up one continuous wave. 3. Let the transitions between the rhythms happen, don’t force. Use the sound of your own breath to monitor the wave. When you finish dancing, sit and watch your breath for a bit. 4. There’s a rhythm that will feel really natural to you, and some that you will resist. The ones you resist are the lost parts of you and they’re the ones you need to make sure that you do! 5. Gabrielle starts with a prayer. Hers is *God is truly amazing. God is within me and I am within God.* Then she offers each body part to the dance, except head I notice. She begins with shoulders — “Take my shoulders, use my shoulders, free my shoulders, they are yours” and then lets her shoulders guide the rest of her body. Do with elbows, hands, spine, hips, knees, feet. Give all of yourself to the dance — “Take me. Use me. Move me even deeper within you.” Do until whole body awakens. ## The Five Rhythms in Order 1.
