Up: [[Experiencing Time]] Created: 2022-06-08 Deep play happens in *moments of intense enjoyment, focus, control, creativity, timelessness, confidence, volition, lack of self-awareness* says Diane Ackerman in her book, *Deep Play* . This sounds much like the concept of [[Flow]]. The difference is that Ackerman goes a bit further in suggesting that the lack of self-awareness, plus the emphasis on creativity, will take us to spiritual transcendence. She also says that deep play is cleansing because it doesn’t allow for other thoughts. In other words, it’s mindfulness on steroids. I love this sentence > [!Orbit] Diane Ackerman in *Deep Play* > One is suspended between tick and tock. (p. 118) This makes me think of [[C. G. Jung]] playing with blocks when he was going through his difficult time after his break with Freud. I wonder if sandplay emerged from that experience?
