Accepting what is means NOT rejecting. In other words, surrendering to what is. The idea is to accept everything I think and feel because if I’m thinking and feeling it, on some level it is legitimate. If I disown thoughts, feelings, sensations, then I’m disowning parts of myself.
Acceptance means releasing my expectations about how I want things to be in my life. The outcome is often out of my control, so all I can do is be present in the moment, recognize that I'm doing the best I can or that "it is what it is,” and let it go.
