Up: [[Zen Camera]]
Created: 2023-08-27
Two weeks since our last check-in and a lot has been happening internally. I’ll use some of the headings I used in [[ZC8 - Identity]] but this check-in won’t be anywhere near as long.
## Audience
Everything I said about myself as audience is still true right now, but there continues to be a niggling sense that I both need and want to close the loop through [[Sharing]] of some form.
## References
I did a couple more small online art courses and noticed that both of the artists spoke at length about their influences and inspirations. I’m starting to pay attention to what I like, what speaks to me. That’s leading to increased clarity of intention and will ultimately result in a more coherent, identifiable and unique voice.
## Style and Vision
I can see now the truth of Ulrich’s assertion that I already have a photographic style. I’m in the early days of uncovering both it and my unique vision, which is quite exciting!
## Impact on Image Making
I’ve been receiving images quite often these last two weeks. Many of them have been during my early morning river walks and I’ve been doing a much better job of pausing and connecting to my body, my senses, before raising my camera to my eye.

I haven’t yet done what I said I was going to do in terms of using candles and such to deliberately create images that speak to my vision. But I have a number of sculptures by Zimbabwean sculptors in my back yard and I’ve been receiving images of the three that are angels. Interestingly, on two of them I notice that I’ve been focusing on their peaceful faces. The third image is of my favourite angel, Angel of Hope, and although I love her face, I really love the colouring of her so I have photographed her in her entirety.

## Next Week
J, what would you like to do now? I’m good with staying with Identity for one more week, but if you’re ready to move on I’m fine with that too.
