Course: Body as Compass: Dreams & the Soul with Tina Stromsted for Washington Jung
### The Process
1. Lie down in my nest. Marion did the same. She made a womb or a cocoon out of blankets on the floor when she was working with her kidney disease.
2. Identify a part of my body that blanks out and wants to be known more. Or, if I’m not sure, I can start at the crown of my head and notice each part of my body, relaxing it as I go and noticing where I feel alive and where I feel less present. It may take 10-15 minutes to get fully relaxed but that's important time because it's only when your body is completely relaxed that it can release authentic responses like grief, terror, and rage.
3. I can listen to calming music. Keep a notebook and pen nearby. Alternatively, I could do what Marion did and make a voice memo recording of what I’m experiencing as I experience it.
4. Have already selected a healing symbol either from a dream, an object that feels sacred, or something from nature that I find beautiful. As I start, be really aware of the healing symbol — its size, colour, smell, maybe taste….
5. Take the symbol in and put it where the blank spot in my body is. Concentrate until the energy begins to move and change. [[Marion Woodman]] says that will generate energy in that place, but first it might make me sick, nauseous and dizzy, because I’m not used to having energy there. Let the symbol move and develop as it will. Follow it, allow it.
6. Is there a body movement, gesture and/or sound that want to emerge?
7. Write or draw. Sit back, look at it. Give it a title. In Marion’s case, she transcribed what she had recorded, journaled her associations and then looked up and wrote amplifications, then took all of that to her analysis. She was analyzed, in part, by Barbara Hannah in Zurich
8. If I’m looking at a drawing, write five words that come to me. If looking at writing, underline five words or add a few that have come to me. In either case, the five words could contribute to a future poem or prose piece
9. Afterwards: put my feet flat on the floor, drink fluids, draw and write more, be kind to my body — move, rest, bathe, dance, walk.
10. Watch dreams that night and the next few; consider dream incubation. See what happens in my daily life with my body.
### Questions for Further Integration from Tina Stromsted
What was the healing image I placed in a part of my body that felt a bit sore, tense, or needed some healing or cherishing? How did the image and process unfold, perhaps including other parts of my body?
What did I discover about how this healing image could benefit me in an aspect of my daily life?
How much did things change for me? Was there more healing and cherishing in this part of my body?
### I Tried It
and it really does work!
**Note**: I didn't think there was anyone still doing BodySoul work, but this [site](https://www.mwfbodysoulrhythms.org) has lots of information. Marlene Schiwy is quite involved and Tina Stromsted
