Tight framing makes us wonder what is happening outside of the frame, while loose framing (putting all of the subject in the frame) makes it complete and separate from its background. Both frames are metaphors for a truth the photographer is seeing.
### Rule of Thirds
Subject should be in top or bottom, left or right thirds of the photo
Rest of the frame should balance the subject
### Foreground
Having an object in the near foreground emphasizes near/far relationships and shows the depth of what is included in the frame.
