Up: [[Expressive Art Ideas - A Long List]] Course: Image or Art? Nora Swan-Foster for Washington Jung Created: 2024-07-23 #### Use Tape Put pieces of tape randomly on a page. Paint over and around with watercolour or acrylic. Remove the tape. Develop what you see. #Art ![[Tape removal spontaneous.webp|400]] I see a candle in a holder and two blank tickets of admission. To where or what? I don't know. I'm letting it sit. #### Dot to Dot Put dots on paper and then connect them, see what kind of imaginary animal/creature is forming and develop it. Or you can do this as a scribble drawing. As always, write about thoughts and feelings as I go. Which I didn't do. Instead I coloured my picture. #Art ![[Dot to Dot Imaginary Animal.webp|400]] #### Layering Colours Use oil pastels to put down layers and layers of colour. Take a pencil and scratch into it so you see some underneath colours. Or do this and then pour on either black gesso or any acrylic paint and scratch into that. The advantage to the paint is that you can then wipe into it. #### Tissue Paper Collage Put down some tissue paper with either and water and glue mixture or acrylic medium poured on it. Layer on more tissue paper of different colours in various places on top of the original. Nora suggested you can write your own fairy tale to that image. And you can write words on the tissue paper and glue that over the tissue paper picture. Or you can choose a photo and make the tissue paper image as a response. #### Spillover Image Take a piece of paper you've used as a placemat for other work so it has some paint on it, or seepage from the pages before. Follow the image with a pen. See what image you can find in that spillover on the paper. #### Words Become Images You can write a word or phrase then turn it into an image of itself.
