- When we draw people we tend to draw ourselves!
- Look at spaces in between the parts you're going to draw, such as noticing that there is, in one magazine portrait, a fairly small space between the nose and side of the face of a woman who is facing at an angle.
- Start with the head because that's where the emotion is. And it sets the conditions for how big you make other body parts.
- If you get the shape of the whites of the eyes right, you’ll get the expression right. (Tracy Verdugo)
- Start by drawing hair and ears. It’s great for getting features in the right places. Eyebrows level with the top of the ears, nose with the bottom of the ears. (Amy Stewart)
